A Game About Penguins changes
Fellow Penguin Army!
A little over a month has slipped by since our last update, so let’s finally catch up. Things got a bit quiet around here, but that hush meant only one thing: we were deep in the trenches, pouring our energy into the game.
Visual Overhaul
In the past few weeks, we’ve given the game a major visual glow-up. Lighting now bathes the world in a consistent, moody atmosphere. Trees finally look like real trees, and the village feels extra snug, with tiny houses and chimneys sending wisps of smoke into the frosty air. The whole world feels stitched together and alive, even beneath its snowy blanket.
We’d genuinely love to hear what you think about the new look.
Sliding Mechanic
This became one of our main obsessions. Berk and Enes poured their hearts into making sliding feel silky-smooth, snappy, and above all, genuinely fun. I’m thrilled to report: mission accomplished.
But there’s a lively debate raging within the team. In our world, penguins can slide uphill. Sure, it defies physics. Berk insists it’s a crime against science. I say it’s a delightful crime. Enes? Still on the fence.
What do you think? Should fun win over realism here?
Extra Improvements
We also gave the entire UI a fresh look, combing through every screen to boost clarity and flow. Meanwhile, we’ve been fine-tuning the online systems and smoothing out core gameplay, so everything feels crisp and stable even during marathon sessions.
These tweaks might not steal the spotlight, but they transform how the game feels from one moment to the next.
Some Fun Coincidences
We stumbled onto something recently that had the whole team cracking up. When we kicked off the project, our internal folder was simply called “penguin adventure.” Fast forward, and suddenly we’re getting comments filled with GIFs from the 1986 classic, Penguin Adventure. Pure, hilarious coincidence.
To top it off, that game was one of Hideo Kojima’s earliest projects. Talk about a small world!
So that sums up our month: a whirlwind of polishing, some wildly enthusiastic testing, and a relentless drive to make the experience shine.
We’re curious - how has your month been? Let us know what you think about the changes, and feel free to hang out with us on social media if you want to stay close to development.
With love, Your host, Alican 🐧
