If you do, please remove them all before restarting Steam and trying again. There is currently reports of some incompatibility for unofficial fan-made mods. This is referring to mods that modify the actual game, not custom levels. Thank you!
addedIt's been a bit quiet, but we're still working on ADOFAI every day. Today we can finally show off what we've been working on: a new level, a reworked level, the addition of local co-op multiplayer, and more!
addedNew Level: Dramatic EntranceToday's new level actually comes in two forms, Classic and Tech. As a reminder, "Classic" levels are similar in design to the regular levels we've created for the game since the very beginning. "Tech" levels are generally more challenging, and incorporate design elements and mechanics that originated in the fan community.
addedNew Level: Dramatic EntranceThis song was chosen as part of the Cosmic Radio contest, held by peropero. We have more Cosmic Radio levels heading to ADOFAI, spread out throughout the year. Rikri handled the recruitment of guest VFXers for these levels and initial organization, and auth and rKizCora also handled the organization of the Cosmic Radio levels. The artist for Dramatic Entrance, TeoC, is also joining our team to do more art & VFX for ADOFAI in the future!
addedLevel Overhaul: 3-X THE WIND-UPThe visuals have been re-done to better suit the original plans for the level: traveling through a dark cavern. The new assets are done by the original ADOFAI artist Kyle (I also write these posts) and all the VFX and animation was put together by our team's VFXer Firestix. I'm so happy to be able to make the level look how I originally wanted it to, but didn't have time back when I was rushing to finish the original version years ago.
addedLevel Overhaul: 3-X THE WIND-UPThe song also has a new arrangement by Riya, of Butterfly Planet and Artificial Chariot fame, with a slightly slower tempo. We think this will help smooth out the jump in difficulty that most players face when they get to this world. Did you know that in the original Flash version, 3-X was the final boss of the whole game? Now that it isn't, we wanted to make it a little bit easier.

Hello!

It's been a bit quiet, but we're still working on ADOFAI every day. Today we can finally show off what we've been working on: a new level, a reworked level, the addition of local co-op multiplayer, and more!

New Level: Dramatic Entrance

Today's new level actually comes in two forms, Classic and Tech. As a reminder, "Classic" levels are similar in design to the regular levels we've created for the game since the very beginning. "Tech" levels are generally more challenging, and incorporate design elements and mechanics that originated in the fan community.

Dramatic Entrance (Classic) was made by…

Music: Uaaaaak

Chart: Rikri

VFX: prod & TeoC

Art: TeoC

Dramatic Entrance (Tech) was made by…

Music: Uaaaaak

Chart: SaJabe

VFX: ChyaRyam

Art: ChyaRyam & TeoC

The Tech version will not appear in the main game unless you have tried to play Tech levels before in the Featured Levels section, since they use advanced mechanics.

This song was chosen as part of the Cosmic Radio contest, held by peropero.

Level Overhaul: 3-X THE WIND-UP

Today, we've released a remaster overhaul for 3-X. We've been wanting to do this for a long time, and we're happy we're finally able to release it.

The visuals have been re-done to better suit the original plans for the level: traveling through a dark cavern.

The song also has a new arrangement by Riya, of Butterfly Planet and Artificial Chariot fame, with a slightly slower tempo. We think this will help smooth out the jump in difficulty that most players face when they get to this world. Did you know that in the original Flash version, 3-X was the final boss of the whole game? Now that it isn't, we wanted to make it a little bit easier.

Main Game Improvements and Fixes

  • The game now has local multiplayer co-op! We debuted this mode on the Nintendo Switch version, but now it's available on Steam. Play together with friends, and they can revive you if you fail during a level. To enable co-op, go to the Pause Menu and select "Change Players." This will allow you to select a controller for each player (Keyboard Left Side, Keyboard Right Side, Keyboard Full, Mouse, and Gamepad.) Afterwards, you'll select the colors and order for each controller. Keep in mind that co-op is only available for main official levels, not including the Neo Cosmos DLC levels. We are working for co-op support for custom levels in a future update.

  • To improve our development workflow, this will be the last version where we will be delivering 32-bit builds for Windows. We’ve observed Steam stats and there seem not to be any more people using 32-bit computers in our userbase.

  • Custom LevelsNew Import Level Screen. You can now import your locally stored levels or from an URL to your Custom Levels Library.
  • CalibrationNew screen with improved design and calibration calculation, to better match the Nintendo Switch version.
  • Pause MenuNew Settings screen. Now descriptions are more easy to read, at the right of the screen.
  • Level Select“Custom Levels” is always available regardless if you are connected to Steam or not. If not connected, it will only show your local Library, not levels that were downloaded via the Steam Workshop (including Featured Levels).
  • GameHighly improved controller support, also fixed many issues surrounding controllers.
  • The game now has a new Calibration screen, to better match the Nintendo Switch version

  • Fixed a desync bug that was occurring when you started a level in the middle

  • Custom LevelsNew Import Level Screen
  • Pause MenuNew Settings screen.,
  • Game: Performance optimizations with levels with lots of decorations.,

  • GameUpdated engine to Unity 6
  • Game: Better loading screens

  • ML-X: Ending art now properly appears,

  • T4-X and T4-EX: Floor icons now have a white outline for better readability.

  • Game: Show FPS counter with Ctrl-Shift-F

  • Game: As an improvement from the Nintendo Switch version, you can now use Change Players when playing a level, and it will take you back to the level after the player selection process finishes.

Level Editor Improvements and Fixes

  • You can now pause the level while it's autoplaying.

  • Repeat EventsNew "gap length" property to skip tiles when triggering events.

And that's basically it! As a reminder, A Dance of Fire and Ice is out now on Nintendo Switch! In addition, we released a free rhythm game on mobile called Rhythm Weightlifter. It's based on a minigame from our other game on Steam, Rhythm Doctor. You can find it on the iOS App Store and on Google Play.

As always, thanks for playing!
