A.A.U. Black Site changes
Attention Agents!
We are excited to share progress on one of the most requested changes to A.A.U.: Enemy AI. Our team has been discussing updating the enemy AI for some time now, and based on community feedback, we knew it had to be done sooner rather than later.
Please enjoy this preview of the new and improved Enemy AI, coming soon in the next major update.
The enemy AI was our oldest system, and it showed! After release, it did not feel advanced enough or where we wanted it to be. A.A.U. is growing and getting better with every update, so it was important for us to make sure enemy AI grew with it.
✨ Where the magic begins ✨
Enemy AI is made of multiple components for each behaviour loop (searching, combat, taking cover,…). Each of the components takes over the steering wheel when it's their turn through animation and brain controllers.

Controllers are used to stop the AI from making impossible actions (shooting and reloading at the same time, etc.). Whenever something feels off or aged, it’s usually a fault of one or multiple systems. Thankfully, we don't need to rewrite the entire enemy AI, just the problematic parts.
Enemies will now seek cover more often and will be faster at making decisions with lower performance cost thanks to the new cover system. A.A.U. Agents will now use special cover animations as they are trained combatants.
While we can't promise it will be perfect, we can promise that we will continue to update it over time.
Steam post image Massive thanks for all the feedback shared with us about the enemy AI, and we hope you all enjoy the changes coming soon.
Keep your radio on for more news on the next major update!
