addedThe new update for 86 is available now! This is our biggest update yet, bringing a few new big features as well as a few smaller improvements. We discussed the big changes back in our November update, but here's a recap as well as a list of the other changes in this update!
addedSprintingSluggle can now sprint! Holding the Sprint button (Left Shift on keyboard, Y on Xbox controller by default) allows you to move at double the speed, which will help you get across large areas where precision isn't needed, and give you more time to solve the more intricate puzzles further away from the starting area. But if you're going for the speedrun achievements, you'll still have to complete the winning run without sprinting at all!
addedStatistics ScreenYou can now find the Statistics button hanging out on the main menu. Hit it to look at how many Sluggles you've led to their deaths, or (a much smaller number) their victory. You can also see your best times with and without sprinting, and how many rooms you've explored in total. It will even show your progress towards the hidden achievements... technically.
changedSmall improvementsUpdated puzzles on one of the optional paths to make it impossible to cheese by sprinting
changedSmall improvementsMade the Hide button faded when it doesn't do anything (e.g. immediately after loading the game, before starting any runs)
addedSmall improvementsAdded colour to some rocks to make the similar ones stand out more from each other

Sprinting

Sluggle can now sprint!

Statistics Screen

You can now find the Statistics button hanging out on the main menu. Hit it to look at how many Sluggles you've led to their deaths, or (a much smaller number) their victory. You can also see your best times with and without sprinting, and how many rooms you've explored in total. It will even show your progress towards the hidden achievements... technically.

Small improvements

  • Updated puzzles on one of the optional paths to make it impossible to cheese by sprinting

  • Made the Hide button faded when it doesn't do anything (e.g. immediately after loading the game, before starting any runs)

  • Added colour to some rocks to make the similar ones stand out more from each other

  • Shrunk the Loony Code logo on the loading screen

  • Made the triggers for the hidden achievements a bit more generous

  • Added a faint flickering border to give the it that "old monitor" feel - This can be turned off by disabling "Border Animation" in the options

  • Updated the UI scale setting so that you can't make the interface unplayably huge for your screen

  • Changed the texture for tabs in the options menu, so that it's easier to see which tab is selected

Bug fixes

  • Changed some tiles that didn't connect properly to others

  • Fixed some optional rooms to remove unintended and boring solutions

  • Changed the font in the options slightly to fix some text not fitting on the buttons

  • Fixed another room that had a random grass tile in some water

If you've made a custom translation, there are also a few new phrases that can be added; check the Text.mbt file in the game folder to see what's new.

That's all for now - be sure to let us know if you find any bugs, and get in touch if there's any features you want to see in future updates!
