5th Dimension changes
Mechs in 5th Dimension function as AI-powered companions rather than static loadouts. These units are underpinned by a lightweight LLM that dictates their behavior and interaction capabilities within the world.
Progression is managed through a skill tree, where players unlock nodes based on gameplay experience. Specialisation is divided into four distinct pathways, which can be blended to create hybrid builds depending on your strategic requirements:
Agility (Morphic): This pathway focuses on the ability to reconfigure physical form and manipulate local space-time constraints. It is primarily used for traversal, bypassing environmental obstacles, and repositioning.
Flight (Aerial): This prioritizes high-speed movement and airborne maneuverability, granting verticality that ground-based units lack. It is suited for reconnaissance and aerial support.
Muscle (Combat): This pathway is dedicated to close-quarters engagement and the application of high-impact kinetic force. It serves as the primary build for frontline defensive and offensive operations.
Power (Psionic): This focuses on non-physical interactions, specifically hacking, mind-reading, and the application of psychic energy to disrupt opponents or terrain.
Progression is not fixed to a single track. As players engage in combat, missions, or resource gathering, their Mechs gain experience, allowing them to unlock specific nodes within their chosen specialisations. Because the pathways are blendable, players might choose to develop a high-mobility Aerial unit that also utilizes Psionic hacking nodes, or a Muscle unit with Morphic reconfiguration abilities.
Beyond stat-based progression, the animation system utilizes webcam-based motion capture. This maps player movement directly to Mech animations, providing a method for manual control over specific character gestures and behavioral responses during live interactions in the world.
As we approach the Alpha in Q4 2026, we are refining how these hybridized builds balance against one another. Which of the four specialisation pathways do you intend to prioritize for your initial Mech build?
