It has been ridiculously hot lately. Going outside for two minutes already feels like an interrogation under a heat lamp.

So Vanishing Witnesses is now 15% off from July 18 to August 1.

Turn on the AC, put a cold drink next to you, and solve the case from home. There is no need to experience the detective lifestyle in the actual summer heat—Lu Yan can do the legwork for you.

The story begins with a death on Wujiang Bridge.

A financial officer falls from the bridge, and the case is quickly ruled a suicide. But five ordinary people who were near the bridge that rainy night soon disappear, one after another.

What did they see?

And why is someone so afraid of letting them speak?

You will investigate locations, collect clues, compare testimony, and connect apparently unrelated evidence. The game will not simply hand you the answer. Some details may appear meaningless at first and only become important much later.

To be honest, there were also parts of the game that we did not handle well enough.

We recently completed another round of improvements based on player feedback:

  • Several deductions now accept multiple valid evidence combinations instead of recognizing only one answer

  • Optional deductions no longer prevent the main story from reaching its conclusion

  • Several early deductions have been revised so characters do not reach conclusions before the necessary evidence is found

  • Repeated phone notifications have been reduced

  • Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, and English text for the final chapter has been completed

  • Audio settings now save correctly

  • Artwork for seven key clue cards has been updated

Most of these fixes did not appear because we suddenly became geniuses. Players pointed the problems out to us, one by one.

Some reviews were kind. Others were very blunt. When they had a point, we listened and kept working.

I cannot honestly say that the game is perfect now. But the current version is smoother, more logical, and contains fewer moments that make you want to slam your desk than it did at launch.

If you have been interested in the game but have not tried it yet, this 15% discount might be a good time to begin the investigation.

Keep the room cool, the evidence board open, and your drink within reach.

It is scorching outside, but the Wujiang Bridge case has gone cold.

Good luck, detectives—and don’t set the AC too low. The case can stay cold; you don’t need to catch one.
