Dear ██
Thank you for exploring Room 404 with us during launch week! Your feedback has been invaluable, and we’ve been working non-stop to polish the experience.
This update zeroes in on the first-time playthrough: we’ve tweaked mechanics and redesigned how anomalies appear so your very first run feels smoother and less punishing. Here’s what’s changed:
The “skip levels” option now unlocks after your first death, cutting down early frustration.
Dying to any 404-related anomaly will now automatically open the anomaly-settings menu, preventing progress stalls caused by missing guidance.
‘ Lantern’ have been added to the levels that contain critical lethal anomalies, making them easier to spot.
Bulletin-board hints now appear in levels with non-critical lethal anomalies, helping you identify what to watch out for.
Spawn rates for several anomalies have been re-balanced.
A handful of overly subtle anomalies have been made more noticeable.
Hit-box windows for “Sidewalk” and “Black Locust” anomalies have been widened, giving players a fairer chance.
All known bugs reported so far have been fixed.
We’ll keep listening and iterating, so please keep the feedback coming. A huge thank-you to everyone who spoke up early on and to those already building guides and community resources. None of the achievement conditions have changed—every strategy forged by the first explorers of the four-floor apartment still holds true.
If you run into anything that feels off, just drop a note in the Steam discussions. We’ll jump on it and push out improvements as fast as we can.
