The Final Chapter of the ‘Dream of Corpse Lady’ DLC: The Lower Corpse – Lust

Having shattered the second illusion, the Corpse Lady strode forward to face the final trial: lust.

The phantom of the Goddess of Spring appeared as expected, admonishing her:

“Mortals are frail. You must exercise self-restraint and restore propriety; only by severing the Three Corpses can you return to your divine station...”

“Sever? Why sever? These desires are the only remaining joys in eternity...”

The Trial of the Three Corpses: the final trial is the severing of lust.

Mortals are trapped by romantic entanglements, craving the warmth of the flesh,

imprisoned in a cage woven of desire from which they cannot escape; if they wish to ascend to divinity, they must sever it with a single stroke.

Throughout the entire illusory realm, there is no trace of her former comrades,

whilst all around, poisonous plants thrive and miasma swirls.

The King of Venomous Strains, sire of myriad offspring, lurks in the mire;

the once-graceful Lily Fairy has shed her gentle countenance, her petals now concealing a poison that corrodes the very bones;

and the phantom of the Goddess of Spring, untouched by the slightest speck of worldly filth, lies quietly concealed amongst these monstrous creatures.

The Goddess of Spring had always ranked among the highest deities; naturally, her phantom inherited her mighty power.

Yet a phantom is but a mirage—how could it ever stand shoulder to shoulder with Her Lordship the Corpse Lady, who rules the eternal divine realm?

“Mortals must slay their three corpses to become gods, but I am already a deity.”
