If mortals renounce their desires to seek the divine, then where shall the gods go once they have severed their own three desires?

In the void, a sacred figure slowly emerged—it was her long-buried past, the true form of the ancient Goddess of Spring.

An ancient admonition echoed layer upon layer in the depths of her divine consciousness:

“Corpse Lady, return…

Don the robes of yore; you remain the spring that revives all things…”

-

The Trial of the Three Corpses: the first to be severed is adornment.

Silk robes and finery, jewels and ornaments, beauty and form… these things that mortals covet and crave are, to the Corpse Lady, but fleeting shadows and the dust of the mortal world.

She intends to shatter all this vanity with her own hands, sever the shadows of the past, and completely renounce that former divine form which clung to glamour and renown.

-

Deep within the illusory realm, the phantom of the ancient Goddess of Spring slowly materialised, standing silently at the edge of the void. Yet the enemies blocking Her Lordship’s path were none other than those familiar figures...

The resurrected shield guards, bearing the faces they had in life, raised their massive shields to parry the attacks of her retinue; the spirit magpies flitted and weaved, skilfully evading the encirclement; even the tomb-guarding stone spirits, usually so honest and clumsy, had shed their stony forms to take on fully human shapes...

Even the entity pulling the strings behind the scenes, though not a familiar face, shares a connection with a certain little one from the Eternal Divine Realm~
