因狄斯2:燃烧的火种 changes
This is Coffee, the dev of the Indies’ Lies series.
It’s hard to believe that almost two years have passed since our very first indie title, Indies’ Lies, was released.
Over these seven hundred days and nights, our small team has been pouring everything we have into building a brand-new roguelite experience — the game we’re finally sharing with you today:
Indies’ Lies 2: Fire Seed.
To be honest, it hasn’t been an easy journey.
Some of our longtime followers might remember that when I first revealed the sequel early last year, I was very confident — planning to start a PlayTest in June and launch an EA version by the end of the year.
But reality had other ideas.
In May last year, when the first prototype was completed, we ran internal tests… and the verdict was unanimous: “This isn’t good enough.”
We scrapped it entirely and started over — which eventually led to what you’re playing now, this “unusual roguelite tactics” version.
When we first started designing the sequel, our goal was simple: to build upon Indies’ Lies and explore new ways to blend roguelite and strategy mechanics, giving fans of the genre something both familiar and fresh.
Our earliest idea was “DBG + tactics” — combining deckbuilding fun with spatial movement and terrain-based combat depth.
Looking back, we might’ve been too ambitious.
We wanted the best of both worlds, but the result was overly complicated — even frustrating.
So, in June last year, we took a step back, tore everything down, and rebuilt the core from scratch.
We made the “roguelite + tactics” combo our true foundation — trimming away redundant deckbuilding mechanics and putting tactical combat front and center.
That’s when the game finally started to click:
the roguelite systems drive the adventure and exploration, while the tactical combat defines the strategy — the two now fit perfectly together.
We also reworked the entire event system, moving away from the usual random choices and number-trading of classic roguelites.
Instead, we focused on creating events that are more interactive, more meaningful, and better integrated into the overall gameplay — so players don’t just “pick the right answer,” but actually experience the world.
The project ended up taking almost a full year longer than planned.
But exploring new territory always comes with risks — and in the process, our team grew a lot, especially in terms of building and refining gameplay prototypes.
Of course, the current version is far from perfect.
We truly hope you can share your thoughts, your feedback, and even your criticisms with us — we’ll listen carefully and keep improving the game together with you.
It’s hard to fit all our passion for indie games into a few hundred words.
But from the bottom of our hearts, thank you —
to everyone who has supported Indies’ Lies,
and to every player who believes in independent games.
We hope Indies’ Lies 2: Fire Seed gives you something new, something meaningful,
and above all — something you truly enjoy. ❤️
— Coffee
