Dev Update: Building a Universe, One Particle at a Time

Over the last few weeks, I've been working on a new core gameplay mechanic that fundamentally changes how the universe is assembled in Ten Power N.

Over the last few weeks, I've been working on a new core gameplay mechanic that fundamentally changes how the universe is assembled in Ten Power N.

Instead of resources simply appearing where they are needed, particles now travel through a growing network of generators and processors. Each level of the universe consumes the structures created by the previous one and transforms them into something more complex.

The process begins with quantum foam, which generates vacuum. The vacuum can then be converted into photons, gluons and bosons. These particles are used to create neutrinos, quarks and other fundamental building blocks. Quarks eventually combine into protons and neutrons, which form atomic nuclei. From there, atoms emerge, followed by molecules and increasingly complex structures.

My goal with this system is to make the progression between scales feel more connected. Every layer of reality now depends on the production chains beneath it, creating a more tangible sense of growth as the universe evolves from simple fluctuations into complex matter.

The system is still under active development and balancing, but the first results are already very promising and add a new strategic dimension to the game.

I'm also working on another major feature in parallel. It's still too early to reveal details, but let's just say that the universe itself may soon become a little more... unique.

One more thing: The Kickstarter campaign for Ten Power N will be launching soon. If you'd like to support the project, help shape its future, and unlock additional features and stretch goals, I'd be grateful if you followed the campaign and considered backing it when it goes live. More details coming soon.
