Weather: Cooler than yesterday.
Hello b’ys,
We received word from the front this morning.
They say the land out there does not welcome you kindly. The ridges look the same at dusk as they do at dawn. Dust settles in your eyes. Landmarks vanish when the light shifts.
You learn quickly that no one is there to point the way for you.
And that is something we chose to keep.
In The Caribou Trail, there is no marker showing your exact position on the map.
When you open it, it will not guide you step by step. It only reflects what I know. As I move forward, as I recognize the land, the map updates with me.
You are not following an icon. You are learning the ground.
We made this choice so that orientation comes from attention.
A ridge you remember. A path you recognize. A direction you choose because it feels right.
There is no score. No kill count. No constant instructions pressing at the edge of your sight.
Instead, you rely on what surrounds you.
The wind. Distant gunfire. Footsteps that may or may not be your friends.
This may feel unfamiliar at first.
But that uncertainty is not friction. It is part of the experience.
The land will not guide you clearly.
You have to read it.
Stay safe, b’ys.
