A new patch is now available for Primal Carnage: Extinction on Steam!
After downloading the latest version, please allow time for hosters to update their servers.
This process is always longer than simply updating the game itself, so it may take a few hours for most of them to pop back online.
UPDATE HIGHLIGHTS
This patch makes a number of balance changes based on your community feedback.
After the last patch some adjustments have been rolled back with different tweaks taking their place, such as sniper rifle fire rate being reverted but with changes to accuracy this time. Spit has also been reverted to its original maximum speed.
One of our primary focuses lately has been updating bleed, specifically relating to the compound bow.
Bleed is actually not super effective and rarely causes kills, but can be annoying. The exception is with Pterosaurs, who were disproportionately affected by arrows with no way to get rid of bleed in the air.
That's all changed with Bowverhaul 3.0 - bleed can now be removed while flying by diving or entering freefall, similar to extinguishing fire. Imagine that the sudden blast of air is closing up your wounds!
Arrows have been rebalanced to affect raptors and spitters more, taking 2 hits to trigger bleeding instead of 3, since the raw damage output of sniper rifles was making the bow look like a less desirable choice. However, bleed duration is now shorter and deals less tick damage than it did previously. When playing small dinosaurs, remember that running makes bleed more intense while crouching ends it faster.
Various other adjustments and bug fixes have been made to the bow and other gameplay mechanics as well, see the full change list further down for more info...

FUTURE CARNAGE
Brand new items will be coming later this Spring, after the launch of Primal Carnage: Evolution on PlayStation. We'll be releasing an update to the SDK for community creators to have the latest content not long after Evolution's release, which will include assets for upcoming Sandbox classes!
The hope is for Sandbox and various other new features from Evolution to appear on PC by this summer, with a beta period in Open Testing to verify everything is working well before going live. Strange things can happen when porting between platforms and we'd like version 3.5 to be as stable as possible.
We're also still working to get a new set of official dedicated servers up and running with Shockbyte, a brand new provider. You can rent servers from them yourself as well, just note we're still collaborating with their engineers to add more settings to customize when creating your matches.
The new official server provider will offer more locations around the world, hopefully giving options for lower ping servers to more players. The officials should all be going live within the next week or two, with an official Australian TDM server already up and running down under.
