In today's patch, Paper Perjury has a long-awaited update to the game. Thanks to Ren'py developer feniksdev, the developer of the Ren'py Controller Support Expansion, Paper Perjury now has a major update for all players who use gamepads. The video below will show exactly how we changed.
To summarize, players will NOT need to depend on the right analog stick for moving the evidence and profiles menu. The same goes for the profile menu. There are a few more places that will require the same code updating, but those are small compared to these. We apologize to anyone who had to play the game this way. With case 6 coming out soon, we wanted to get this updated now.
With major update news out of the way, there are a few more things we have done. The controls menus for keyboard, mouse, and gamepad have been updated. While they no longer have the art, they are more clear on what every button does. This includes the means to play the whole game with just a keyboard alone.
In the future, we might add rebinding controls, but any time soon. But in theory, it is possible.
Other notes
The start of case 6 now properly states the full release date
Removed a bug where hitting the right analog stick on some sections would crash the game
Updated the lore to make sure the Azure City Police Precinct #5 is led by a captain who has a lieutenant
Updated the lore in case 2 when Justina looks around Owen Eubank's office. Rather than talking about City States, it confirms the origin of Alm as the currency of case 2. This is done so players can understand what we mean by Alm in case 3. We might bring back the lore of the city states in the future
Updated the art for Hana so she has a proper black outline and desk size
Updated the art for Ash so he has a proper black outline
Gave Raiden an angry pose in case 6. This plays more of a role in the second half of the case, but we added it in the first half for a couple of scenes
If there are any bugs or issues that might have popped up with this update, please let us know.
