Hi everyone!
I’m Rhomita, the developer of Notmads.
I wanted to share a clear update on where development stands and what’s coming next.
After a long period of steady development, iteration, and planning, I can now confidently say that Notmads is planned to release in Early Access in April 2026.
At this stage, the focus has been on closing and solidifying the main features, and then improving and enhancing them rather than constantly adding new systems. Most of the core mechanics are now in place, and development is moving into a phase centered around content creation, polish, balance, and overall feel, which will continue throughout 2026.
Here’s a quick overview of what we’ve been working on:
Most of the main gameplay mechanics are done and functional. From here on, the focus is on refinement, balance, and player experience.
The entire UI has been replaced with a final design, created by a dedicated UI artist.
We’ve started replacing all major 3D models, beginning with characters and the beast, working closely with two 3D artists.
Most of the main 3D art is now custom-made for Notmads. Some environment assets will continue to be replaced and improved during 2025.
Alongside this, a big part of development is now focused on adding more content:
More places to explore across the island
More skills and progression options
More equipment, items, and upgrades
More quests and activities to give the world depth and direction
The plan is to release Early Access with most of the first island completed, offering a substantial and cohesive starting experience rather than a small technical slice.
In addition, I’m planning to release a playable demo during an upcoming Steam Next Fest. This demo will feature a smaller portion of the first island with some limitations, but it should give you a good sense of the core gameplay, atmosphere, and overall feeling of Notmads — so you can see if it’s something you’d like to spend time with.
If you’re interested in the project, please consider wishlisting the game and following the Steam page — it genuinely helps a lot.
Thank you all for the continued support, feedback, and patience.
Cheers, Rhomita
