NGO Character Creator is now in Beta!

We heard you.

Since we've released the game in Early Access, arguably the number one most requested feature was a Character Creator.

This is not what we initially envisioned for the game. We wanted you to get attached to your randomly generated crew, like getting attached to the protagonists of a show you just started watching. You didn't choose them, you grew fond of them.

But still, you kept asking for it. So who are we to say no?

Introducing, the Character Creator - now in Beta!

During development we spent a lot of time developing a Character Generator that could yield believable anime characters. That took a lot of hand-tweaking, experimentation and lots of rules.

We ripped them all out.

Well, almost all of them.

We've done everything we could to allow you the maximum amount of freedom possible without outputting straight up broken characters. This means that some limitations are still there but generally speaking you should feel a lot of freedom in the characters you can create.

We gave a bit of an early access to it to our Discord members and they seem to be enjoying it.

You can Customize the First and Last Name, date of birth, blood type and attitude. Change all the clothing and appearance and customize the character's palette.

We're introducing Nicknames that we will also extend to existing characters and in the future we plan to let you also choose the Character's Avatar pose.

When starting a new game you can replace any of your 4 starting pilots with a custom created one.

Right now we're working on giving you the possibility of also finding Custom Characters in Fool's Inns around the world, allowing you to create an entire roster of characters for your own mecha anime.

We're also exploring ways to allow you to easily upload and share your custom creations with other players. As of right now every Custom Character is a file that you can manually share.

We hope you will like this update. We gave it our best to give you what you asked within the limits allowed us by the existing foundations of the game.

We're releasing the update in Beta first, to gather feedback and see how you feel about it. We hope to release it as a full update in the very near future.

How to access the Beta

You will find a brand new Beta branch right here on Steam called "Permanent Beta". In the future we plan to push important updates there first.

You can access the Beta branch by right clicking on NITRO GEN OMEGA > Properties > Betas and choosing it from the drop-down menu.

The Beta comes with an important warning: BACK UP YOUR SAVEFILES.

Loading an existing save file might make it incompatible with the regular version of the game. Handle with care.

Your savefiles are located in %localappdata%\\Overdrive\\Saved\\SaveGames - you will find your Custom Characters in the "Saved" folder.
