Big Things Are Happening!

Green Ember: Helmer in the Dragon Tomb is now making its way into the hands of Kickstarter backers! Fans of Helmer can finally begin exploring his origin story — and we couldn’t be more excited to see you dive in.

We also have an official launch date: November 18th!

Historically, it’s not the most festive date — mostly earthquakes and military actions. Not many excuses for a party… unless you celebrate the day the first push-button phone went into service.

If you are, and you love pushing buttons, commemorate the day by pushing “Play” on Helmer in the Dragon Tomb this November 18th.

BTS: The Cave

Much of Helmer in the Dragon Tomb takes place underground, in a massive cavern. When I first talked with Sam about some book art, I joked that it’s not easy to paint a black rabbit in a dark cave. You can see some failed cover concepts here.

The Brazen team solved the lighting problem beautifully — using deep blues and purples as stand-ins for black, but contrasting the cool colors with the warm glow of torches. It’s not only prettier, it reveals the cave’s history: the statues, murals, and carvings of the dragons who once ruled there. These weren’t creatures hiding underground — they were shaping it to their own purpose.
