If you've finished the game, you've already met her. If you haven't, here's a quick intro:
She has many names -- the Gardener of the Golden Tree, the Maiden in Yellow, or the one you'll most likely call her: the Demon Lord. She lives in the deepest part of the dungeon, and she's at the heart of the entire story.
In our earliest sketches, she looked more like a maiden with a touch of divinity.
The illustration went through six or seven iterations, and each pass was about subtraction -- the goal was to make her feel less human, more divine.
The withered branches behind her, the entwined vines, and the scattered petals all express her symbiotic bond with the Golden Tree. She is part of the Tree.
