Hello, Bushi Community!
It’s been a few wild weeks since we officially unleashed Bushi upon the world! This project has been our "baby" for a long time, and finally making the jump to a full release was both exhilarating and terrifying. While the game is officially out, we are nowhere near finished.
We want to give a massive shoutout to everyone providing feedback, writing reviews, and hanging out in the community. We realized early on that the only way to truly grow Bushi was to get it into your hands and let the gameplay do the talking.
Before we dive into the 2026 Roadmap, let’s talk about where we are and how we got here.
Finding Our North Star
Bushi has lived many lives during development. We knew we had something special, but we wrestled with the direction. Should everyone have the same kit? Should weapons be map pickups? Should we go full "Hero Shooter"?
We debated, we brainstormed, and we coded a dozen different versions of this game. Ultimately, we decided that the best people to steer the ship are the ones actually playing it. Your feedback is our compass, so please keep those bug reports and suggestions coming!
Without further ado, let’s look at what’s coming to Bushi in 2026 and beyond.
Abilities & Runes
Our recent Lightning Spear Update was just a small taste of the chaos we have planned. We are currently working on a suite of new abilities, redesigning existing items, and introducing the Rune System.
While we’ll do a deep dive into Runes soon, here is a sneak peek at some new tech and a specific Rune modifier for the Parry ability:
Note: Names and mechanics are subject to change during testing.
Substitution Jutsu: Just before an attack lands, instantly swap places with a nearby object (yes, like the classic wooden log).
Clone Technique: Create multiple illusionary clones that move randomly to distract and disorient your opponents.
Parry (Rune: Deflection): Your Parry now triggers an active [Counter Attack] window for an additional 0.3 seconds and is no longer interrupted by incoming hits. The trade-off? Your [Charge Recovery Time] increases by 5 seconds.
Loadouts & Playstyles
To complement these new tools, we’re introducing a Loadout System for total customization.
We’ll be real with you: we considered the Hero Shooter route because it's the "trend." But we didn’t want to do something just because it was popular. Plus, we generally have a bone to pick with the genre (except for Deadlock praise be to Gaben).
Instead, we chose freedom. We want you to mix and match abilities and utilities to fit your soul. While we’re currently focused on perfecting the ability kits, we’re also expanding the arsenal. Expect to see things like shurikens, flintlock rifles, dual blades, and maybe even a kusarigama (kunai with chain) for the more cultured warriors among you.
The Path Ahead
This roadmap is just a glimpse of the horizon. We’ll be sharing more granular details as these features move further along the development cycle.
