Is ALYSSA connected to Don’t Be Afraid in any way?
No, because the rights to Don’t Be Afraid are owned by Eneida Games, and they are the ones continuing the franchise. I wasn’t involved in the development of either Don’t Be Afraid 2 or any future entries in the series.
ALYSSA, however, remains entirely in my hands and is a spiritual successor to Don’t Be Afraid. What does that mean?
The game brings back:
exploration
item collecting
escaping from danger
multiple endings
shocking storyline with disturbing antagonists
It includes my ideas for a Don’t Be Afraid sequel, but all characters, locations, and plotlines are completely new and built around new lore.
It’s a completely new universe, and if things go well, I’d like to create more games set in it in the future.
